Cecilia 2008 Il Conservatorio di Roma presenta la 1a Edizione del "Festival

Internazionale di Musica Elettroacustica del Conservatorio S.Cecilia".

Il Festival si terrà dal 15 al 20 Ottobre 2008.

La Musica Elettronica ed Elettroacustica ha raggiunto, a sessant'anni dalla

sua nascita, una straordinaria diffusione. Oggi gran parte della musica

d'arte è elettroacustica: essa viene prodotta da centri di produzione e di

ricerca pubblici e privati situati in ogni parte del mondo; avviene anche

che singoli compositori utilizzino le possibilità offerte dalle loro

apparecchiature personali, anche se modeste. Inoltre lo studio di nuove

metodologie per l'analisi, sintesi ed elaborazione del suono riveste grande

importanza oltre che per la musica d'arte, anche per le industrie del

settore degli strumenti musicali elettronici e dell'audio professionale.

Molte Università in tutto il mondo si dedicano a questo campo di ricerca,

altre affrontano le problematiche relative alla percezione del suono

organizzato,indagando sugli aspetti cognitivi della fruizione musicale.

La musica elettroacustica rappresenta quindi un campo interdisciplinare dove

s'incontrano arte, scienza e tecnologia.

Il Corso di Musica Elettronica del Conservatorio "S.Cecilia"di Roma è stato

uno dei primi attivi in Italia. Il primo docente fu Franco Evangelisti, uno

fra i maggiori rappresentanti dell'avanguardia sperimentale italiana ed

europea. Proprio grazie al suo primo docente la Scuola di Musica Elettronica

di Roma si caratterizzò sin da allora per la qualità e l'approfondimento

dell'indirizzo compositivo.

Il Conservatorio di Roma con la 1° edizione del "Festival internazionale di

musica elettroacustica del Conservatorio S.Cecilia" vuol creare un

appuntamento unico in Italia, durante il quale sia possibile fruire della

produzione musicale elettroacustica più rappresentativa in campo

internazionale. Un appuntamento ad ottobre nel centro storico di Roma per

ascoltare musica di oggi e riflettere sulla musica di oggi, sulle sue

tecniche, i suoi strumenti e i suoi obiettivi espressivi.

Nel corso delle sei giornate previste si terranno, in luoghi diversi,

concerti, conferenze ed eventi speciali. Questi ultimi saranno costituiti da

esecuzioni di alcune opere elettroacustiche "storiche". I concerti saranno

eseguiti da docenti e studenti del Conservatorio.

La scelta di tali opere, selezionate tramite un bando internazionale,

avverrà esclusivamente in base a criteri di rappresentatività della

situazione internazionale della musica elettroacustica e di fattibilità del

programma del Festival.

Tutte le composizioni pervenute saranno ospitate in permanenza presso la

Biblioteca di S.Cecilia.

La collaborazione organica con l'Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, infine, ci

consentirà di programmare opere appartenenti a generi raramente

rappresentati in concerti di musica elettroacustica, come composizioni

audiovisuali e installazioni sonore o visivo-sonore.

Programma di organizzazione temporizzato:

. 15 marzo 2008 - 15 giugno 2008. Bando per le opere.

. 1 luglio 2008. Scelta delle opere e formazione dei gruppi di esecuzione.

. 15 luglio 2008. Redazione e diffusione, tramite internet, del programma

dettagliato del Festival (timetable) completo di orari e localizzazioni per

tutti i concerti e tutte le conferenze.

International Electroacoustic Music Festival of the Conservatory of Santa

Cecilia 2008 The Conservatory of Rome presents the 1st Edition of the

"International Electroacoustic Music Festival of the Conservatory of Santa

Cecilia".

The Festival will take place from the 15th to the 20th of October, 2008.

Only sixty years after its introduction, Electronic and Electroacoustic

Music has already won wide circulation. Nowadays much of what we have come

to think of as 'art related music' is electroacoustic music: it is created

in private and public production and research centres throughout the world;

it is also common, however, that individual composers use their own personal

equipment. Moreover, the study of new methods of analysis, synthesis and

elaboration of sound is extremely important not only for art related music,

but also for industries involved in electronic musical instruments and

professional audio. Universities in many different countries work in this

field of research, others are dealing with the questions relative to the

perception of organized sound, investigating the cognitive aspects of the

enjoyment of music.

Electroacoustic music, therefore, represents an interdisciplinary field, the

meeting place of art, science and technology.

The Course of Electronic Music at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory of Rome was

one of the first in Italy. The first teacher was Franco Evangelisti, one of

the foremost representatives of the Italian and European experimental

avant-garde. Thanks to him, its first professor, the School of Electronic

Music of Rome has been known since then for the quality and depth of the

specialization in composition.

The Conservatory of Rome with this first edition of the "International

Electroacoustic Music Festival of the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia". wishes

to create a milestone appointment in Italy, one which will facilitate the

understanding of the global production in the field of electroacoustic

music. An appointment in October 2008 in the historic center of Rome: to

listen to today's music; reflect on this music, its techniques, instruments

and expressive mediums.

During the six days of the Festival, conferences, concerts and special

events will be held in varying locations. The special events will be the

performance of various historically important electroacoustic pieces. The

concerts will be given by students and teachers from the Conservatory.

Students will have the chance to establish direct and live contact with

contemporary electroacoustic music by being able to speak directly to the

composers, confronting problematic technical and expressive aspects of the

various programmed works.

The choice of these pieces, selected after an announcement of the

competition, will be made taking into account practical and technical

feasibility of the pieces.

All compositions entered will remain part of Santa Cecilia's library

collection.

Through collaboration with the Fine Arts Academy of Rome, we will be able to

schedule a series of works only rarely presented in electronic music

concerts, such as audio-visual compositions and sound and visual-sound

installations.
